Although DVD's and CD's are extremely durable, they are subject to certain kinds of damage that can cause improper playback. Here are a few tips to keep your DVD and CD collection safe from harm.
Properly handle your discs. Smudges, fingerprints and especially scuffs can damage your disc. Only hold the edges of your disc. Never place your disc label side UP on any surface. In fact, always keep your disc in it's case when you're not playing it. We all know that sometimes dust and fingerprints are inevitable. If you find the need to clean the recorded surface of a disc, make sure you use a 100% cotton cloth, or a wipe designed for CD and DVD surfaces. A small amount of soapy water can be used as well. Some will say that rubbing alcohol will work great. This is true, however, rubbing alcohol can cause your label to bleed, so use at your own risk.
